With a considerable increase in cinema audiences (an additional 20% compared to 2018) and a clear success for the continuous daytime screenings launched this year, Luxembourg City Film Festival’s 2019 Grand Prix – by Orange goes to the British film RAY & LIZ, while the Italian documentary SELFIE takes home the Documentary Award – by BGL BNP Paribas. The Festival’s awards ceremony paid hommage to English director MIKE LEIGH.
The first estimates point towards 18,600 cinema audience members. While the total number of visitors, which includes participants of events and the exhibition at Cercle Cité, will be available in the next couple of days, the Festival team is pleased that its strategy focused on increasing cinema audiences seems to have paid off. One year ahead of its tenth edition, LuxFilmFest visitors have embraced the new “All Day Long” film schedule. The Festival is also thrilled that the visitor numbers of the Virtual Reality Pavilion have further increased to 2,072 participants – without even including this last weekend.
